Iva Loree (Chase) Appleton was born on May 29, 1924, to Willard and Lillie (Howard) Chase, in the family’s home, 4 miles South of Selman, Oklahoma.  Iva grew up on the farm and was a “Tomboy” following her 2 brothers around.  She attended school from 1st grade to 12th grade at Selman, Oklahoma.  Iva enjoyed playing basketball and tennis.  Iva graduated in 1941 and was Valedictorian of her class.  She attended 1 year of College at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva.  Iva took business courses and worked in the teacher’s office.

Iva married Joseph William Appleton on August 24, 1942 in Fowler, Kansas.  To this union they were blessed with 4 children Darrel, Delbert, Barbara, and Bruce. She attended church at the First Christian Church in Selman with her family.  The church transferred to Buffalo in May 1958.  Iva was a longtime member of the First Christian Church, and a member of the Merry Workers Club of Selman.  Iva was a Stanley Product Dealer for 34 years. Iva enjoyed spending time at the Buffalo Senior Citizens Center playing cards or dominos with friends.  She also enjoyed attending the National Finals Rodeo in Oklahoma City and taking trips to various places.

Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph William Appleton, in November 1992, son Darrel Appleton, in December 2018, granddaughter Suzanne Appleton, in 1982, and grandson Brian Appleton in 1988. Also preceding in death were her two brothers and one sister.  Iva went to be with her Lord and savior Sunday January 26, 2020 peacefully at the Western Skilled Nursing Home with her family by her bed side.

Iva leaves as her survivors, one daughter, Barbara Burum of Americus, Kansas and two sons, Delbert Appleton and wife LaNetta of Isabella, Oklahoma, and Bruce Appleton and wife De’ett  of Buffalo, Oklahoma, one sister Betty Jo Robertson and husband Leland of Buffalo, Oklahoma, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews a host of other relatives and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at the First Christian Church at Buffalo with Rod Reiger and Jason Shepherd officiating on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at 2:00 p.m.    Burial will be at the Willow Creek Cemetery in the Paruna Community northeast of Buffalo.

The pianist is Lyn Wood playing “My Mother’s Eyes” and “Amazing Grace” with the soloist is Peggy Reiger.  The pallbearers are Darren Appleton, Dale Appleton, BJ Appleton, Levi McBeth, Chris Dold, Kip Baird, and Darion Davis.
