Beverly Adkins

d. November 14, 2020

Beverly Nadine (Walker) Adkins was born October 14, 1940 to Walter Wayne and Ruth Ann (Coder) Walker of Mulvane, Kansas.  Beverly attended the first though 12 grade at Mulvane School.  A precursor of her years to come, her favorite class was Home Economics.  Beverly met the love of her life Theodore "James" Adkins through a mutual friend, when James was working for a short time in Wichita, Kansas.  James and Beverly were married November 29, 1958 in the Brethren Church, Mulvane, Kansas.  They made their home in the country near Selman, Oklahoma, where they farmed and ranched.  They were blessed with 4 children, 3 daughters and a son.  She took great pride in her children's accomplishments; she and James were class parents, basketball and football booster clubs members, and avid supporters of both FFA and 4-H.  Beverly and James could frequently be found boating and camping with their children and their families.  Beverly went to LPN School after her children left home.  She was named the outstanding student of her class.  James and Beverly were members of the Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, Oklahoma.  Beverly loved the church family and was honored to serve where needed.  She was in the Lutheran Woman's Missionary League for many years, treasurer of the church branch of Thrivent, and served on the altar committee.  Beverly was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, making sure all her grandchildren have a handmade quilt from Grandma.  Beverly was an active member, right up until the time she entered the nursing home, of the "Merry Workers", the county home extension club.  She liked to garden.  She enjoyed china painting and was a member of the China Club of Woodward, Oklahoma.  Her family recalls her as an excellent cook with her specialty being her pies.  Beverly was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years; James, parents, son; Curtis, and brother; Duane. Beverly went to be with her Lord and Savior only 4 days after her husband, at the age of 80 years, 1 month, on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Corn Heritage Village, after a lengthy illness of Alzheimer Disease, combined at the end of her life with Covid-19.  As in life they did everything together, their family is confident they are celebrating together in Heaven.  Beverly is survived by daughters; Sheryl White and husband Scott of Edmond, Oklahoma, Cindy Penner and husband Roger of Weatherford, Oklahoma, Lynn Soliday of Naples, Florida, grandchildren; Vanessa (Soliday) and Dan Lindeman, Sara (White) and Dave Cox, Stephany (White) and Matt Lively, Cody Penner, and Randi (Rowland), Jared Penner, and Cassie Adkins, great grandchildren; Vance, Deacon, and Divya Lindeman, Anniston and Adley Lively, Penelope Penner, brothers; Clay Walker, Larry Walker, sister; Vada Brasier, nieces, nephews, dear family and friends.  Family suggests memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo, Oklahoma.
