Mrs. Thelma “Jean” Cullins was born April 13, 1932, in Buffalo, Oklahoma to William and Grace (Sparks) Mitchell. Better known to family and friends as Jean grew up in the Buffalo, Oklahoma area. Jean graduated from Buffalo High School with the class of 1950. Jean married in 1953 and from that union came 4 children: Ricky, Kimberlee, Michael and Terry. In September 1962, she married the love of her life and best friend, William “Tip” Cullins. They moved their family to Shawnee, Oklahoma and later to Ardmore, Oklahoma where they lived for the next 24 years. While living in Ardmore, Jean attended Murray State College. and became a Registered Nurse in 1974. This career spanned 28 years. Eventually, they moved back to Buffalo, Oklahoma to be closer to Jean’s family. She enjoyed reading, playing card and learning new games, or listening to gospel music. Jean also loved spending time with all her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years: Tip Cullins; two sons, Rick Cullins and Terry Cullins; her parents, grandson, Trevor Cullins; six brothers, Charlie Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, Bud Mitchell, Ralph Mitchell and Dub Mitchell; and six sisters: Joann Mitchell, Mildred Zollinger, Isabella Koch, Oleta Sharp, Leota Mills and June Kueser. Jean went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 9, 2025, at her home in Buffalo, at the age of 92. Jean was one of a pair of twins, but her twin sister passed away on May 15, 1932. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Larry Miller of Ardmore; son, Michael Cauffman of Buffalo; grandchildren Randall Brossman, Eric Miller, Leslie Miller, Jason Cullins, Jennifer Cullins; great-grandchildren Raigan Hartsell, Christina Brossman, Marcus Brossman; great-great-grandchildren Holland Hartsell and Lennon Hartsell. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
