Steven Ray Shuman was born on May 27, 1956 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Jack and Dovie Shuman.  Steve attended grade school and high school in Laverne, Oklahoma, graduating in 1974.  Steve spent his life on the family farm and enjoyed all of the animals.  Steve and his brother Tim spent many hours exploring the farm and getting into mischief together. Steve attended Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Oklahoma before transferring to Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1979.  Steve started the Shuman Greenhouse in 1982. Steve thoroughly loved visiting with the customers and visitors. Steve later allowed his mother to run it when he went to work for the State of Oklahoma. Steve worked as a mental health aide before working on the TAD unit.  Steve later transferred to Williams S. Key in Fort Supply as a dietary manager.  Steve retired from the State of Oklahoma after 25 year of service.  Steve was preceded in death by his brother Tim in 2006 and father Jack in 2014.  Steve went to be with his Lord on June 6, 2015 at his home surrounded by family and his dogs that he loved very much.  Steve is survived by his mother Dovie, of the home; two nephews, Wayne Shuman of Enid, Oklahoma and Kirk Shuman and wife Crystal of Laverne, Oklahoma; Special children, Tim Johnson and wife Brynn of Princeton, Texas, Lynn Morris and husband Scott of Greenfield, Indiana, Krystal Hamby and husband Mike of Buffalo, Oklahoma, and Angela Shuman of Laverne, Oklahoma; many great nieces, nephews, and great great nieces and nephews that were very dear to his heart.

In Lieu of flowers memorial to Laverne EMS and Laverne Fire Department, Relay for Life, and Christian Women Fellowship.
