Shirley Ann (Quakenbush) Burnside was born August 14, 1942, in Garden City, to C.A. and Bernice (Ratliff) Quakenbush. Shirley was raised in rural Sublette Kansas, where she attended school and graduated with the class of 1960. Shirley attended business college in Denver, Colorado. On December 22, 1962, Shirley married Jim Burnside and together they raised 3 children. Over the years Shirley owned a craft store, showing off her wonderful crafts, played the piano & organ at the First United Methodist Church of Buffalo. Shirley was a member of the Methodist United Women League & Ombudsman for many years. Shirley will be remembered for her strong Christian faith and devotion to her family. Shirley is preceded in death by her son Kirk, daughter Teresa, and husband Jim. Shirley went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, May 8, 2020, at the Western Skilled Nursing & Therapy in Buffalo, Oklahoma. She is survived by son Keith Burnside wife Cindy, grandson Cole Burnside, Daughter-in-law Tisha Burnside, grandsons Zach Burnside, Dillon & Austin Jones, Sister-in-law Donna, Special friend Jane Robison, other family and friends. In Lieu of Flowers the family suggest memorial to the First United Methodist Church Buffalo, Oklahoma.
A private family burial will be held Thursday May 14, 2020, in the High Point Cemetery Buffalo, Oklahoma.
A celebration of Life for Shirley will be held at a later date, do to the Cornia 19 virus.
