Ruby D Jordan

Ruby Darlene (Buss) Jordan was born during the Dust Bowl on April 22, 1935, in Hugoton, Kansas. Ruby was the seventh of nine children born to Dick and Vera (Snider) Buss.

When Ruby moved back to Buffalo in 1975, she found and married the love of her life, Royce Jordan, on May 6, 1976, at the First United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Together, they built a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories for nearly 50 years.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma. Ruby was an active member of the Doby Springs Golf Club, the Red Hat Ladies, and the Alumni Association. Ruby loved cooking and made the best homemade beef and noodles. Ruby raised and loved many dachshunds at the R&R kennel. She worked at the Harper County Courthouse for many years, serving in various offices and positions.

Ruby passed away peacefully on August 11, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by loved ones. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend whose kindness and warmth touched the lives of all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband Royce; her children: Darleta Hollon and husband Hugh of Buffalo, Oklahoma, Joe McCauley and wife Diana of Canton, Texas, Pamela Esch and husband Randy of Wichita Falls, Texas, Rae Steimel and husband Brent of Buffalo, Oklahoma, and John Jordan of Buffalo, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Dee Ann Cross and husband Bill Williams of Edmond, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren, along with many neices and nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory and the legacy of love she leaves behind.

Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Vera; her in-laws, Ed and June Jordan; her siblings: Vonnie (Toots), Don, Audrey, Marvin, Veda Ruth, Dickie, Bob, and Jackie; and grandchildren: Jaden, Brittney, Joshua, and Jerimiah.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma.
