Ronnie R Wilson

January 8, 1944 — October 22, 2025

Weatherford, Oklahoma

Ronnie Ray Wilson, 81, of Weatherford, Oklahoma passed away after battling multiple cancers on October 22, 2025, surrounded by family. Ron was born on January 8, 1944 to Charles Vernon Wilson and Leta Lucille Crouch in Wichita, KS.

Ron grew up in Buffalo, Oklahoma, After graduating high school, Ron enlisted in the United States Navy serving from 1963-1967. Ron married Rita Denton in 1975 gaining 4 step children and from this union a daughter was born.

Over the years, Ron worked as a telephone man, Schwan’s man and truck driver. After retiring, Ron enjoyed meeting new friends at local coffee shops. He was very proud of his family and his Navy background. He loved cheering on the Sooners even though he lived in a house full of Oklahoma State fans. He also enjoyed tinkering with his 1970 Mustang, planting flowers and going to the casino on occasion. His greatest achievement; however, was being the best Dad and Grandpa to his daughter and granddaughters. Ron was the type of dad that always showed up, no matter what. He was gentle, loving and funny. While he was truck driving coast to coast, Ron showed his love by sending postcards with special notes to his daughter from all over the country. He never missed a holiday with Georganna. If he couldn’t be with her in person, he sent cards or flowers to celebrate. In later years, he traveled all over to watch his granddaughters play softball, basketball and any other activities they were doing.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Georganna and Jeff Buss of Weatherford, his granddaughters Macey Buss and Katey Buss of Weatherford, his sister and brother-in-law Authorene and Ed Phillips of Marshall, MO, twin sister and brother-in-law Connie and Dale Cullip of Sterling, CO, sister Mary Lake of Piedmont, Ok, six nephews, one niece and a host of other family and friends. The family would like to thank all of his doctors, nurses and caregivers for taking extra special care of him these last few months. We are especially thankful for his caregiver Keri who became part of our family!
