Peggy Reed

Obituary for Peggy Lynn (Pentz) Reed, was born in Ashland, Kansas to Orie & Mamie McVickers on August 18, 1947. Peggy grew up in Ashland attended school and graduated from the Ashland High School with the class of 1965. She extended her education by going to nursing school and later her degree of Nursing LPN. Frank and Peggy were united in marriage in Ashland, Kansas, on July 18, 1969. With children of their own Steven Reed, Tammy Reed, Peggy Reed and Mary Reed this made the family complete. Peggy worked at the Ashland Hospital, Clinic, Nursing Home, Protection Valley Manor, and the Clark County Health Nurse. Being a Dale Earnhardt fan, Peggy & Frank enjoyed traveling to many Nascar races Daytona speedway, Talladega, just to name a few. She also enjoyed doing arts and crafts, reading books and was very active with the Ashland Ladies VFW Auxiliary. Peggy enjoyed being called “The First Lady of Ashland” during Franks many years of being Mayor of Ashland. Peggy loved to take care of the grandchildren and great grandkids.  Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, sister Norma German and brothers Glenn and Perry Pentz, and a Grandson Jared Riner.  Peggy is survived by her loving husband Frank Reed of the home, daughter Tammy Reed of Ashland, Kansas, son Steven & wife Pam Reed of Sioux Falls South Dakota, grandkids Matt Reed, Chad Reed, Nichole Reed, Jordan Vierling, Jaydan Reed, Stepdaughters Peggy Ashby and her children Josh Ashby, Levi Ashby, McKenzie Ashby,  Mary Reed and her children Zack Reed, and Hunter Reed, Peggy sister Martha Williamson of Ashland, Kansas and the Reed family dog Layla. Other relatives and many friends. The family suggest memorials to the Ashland Ladies VFW Auxiliary where she helped with many activities for many years.
