Patricia A Urban

d. October 17, 2022

Ben Wheeler, TX

Patricia Ann (Dorsey) Urban was born December 13, 1939, in Ashland, Kansas, to Robert Anderson and Doris Marie Dorsey. There, Patricia met her future husband, Joe, in grade school. Patricia and Joe attended Ashland High School where she was the homecoming queen during her senior year. Joe’s best friend, Charlie, was the homecoming king and got to sneak a kiss with Patricia. But, of course, Joe won Patricia over and the two married in 1958.

Joe served 20 years in the U.S. Navy with Patricia by his side. The couple shared many adventures across Hawaii, Japan, Tennessee, Maine, and Florida. While living in Maine, Patricia attended Bernard’s Beauty School. She made a career as a cosmetologist across several states until Joe built Patricia her very own beauty salon in Carthage, Texas, called the Unique Beautique. Patricia had a keen eye for beauty. She enjoyed decorating, fashion, and gardening, and always looked stunning.

Patricia and Joe retired at their beautiful ranch in Ben Wheeler, Texas, where they raised horses and cattle and gave a loving home to many other pets over the years. Patricia loved animals and considered them all God’s creatures. She was known for helping lost or injured animals, from wild birds to baby fawns. She leaves behind her loyal Pomeranian, Annie.

Most importantly, Patricia was a devout Christian. She loved God and continually sought ways to become closer to Him and share her faith with others. Patricia taught Sunday school and directed a youth choir. Her faith was so compelling that friends, family, and even complete strangers often asked Patricia to pray for them. She was a testament to the power of faith.

Patricia passed away on October 17, 2022, in Ben Wheeler, Texas. She leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Joseph Paul Urban, and their four children: Cynthia Powers of Harpswell, Maine, Mick Urban and wife, Terry, of Ben Wheeler, Texas, Rhonda Mayfield, and husband, Danny Butts, of Ben Wheeler, Texas, and Rodney Urban and wife, Lori, of Heyworth, Illinois. She is also survived by many grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as her sister, Juanita Moore, and her brother, Bob Dorsey, of Wichita, Kansas. Patricia’s sister, Sydne Hess, of Ashland, Kansas, preceded her in death.

A service will be held at the First Church of God in Ashland, Kansas, on Monday, October 24, at 2:00 pm with a visitation following at the church.  Burial service will follow at the Ashland, Kansas cemetery.
