Marva Rae Ellis was born on November 17, 1930 to James and Ruby (Hays) Musgrove, at Palco, Kansas. Marva attended grade school in Palco before the family moved to Ashland, Kansas. She graduated from the Ashland High School with the class of 1948. Marva and Ben Ellis were united in marriage at the Assembly of God Church in 1952. To this union a son John was born. The family made their home in Ashland, where she worked with the Berryman family for many years, both at the title company and at the Stockgrowers State Bank, for over 45 years. She loved helping customers no matter the task. Her spunky spirit and love for others went hand in hand. Marva considered her co-workers her extended family. After she retired from the bank, she worked at D&B Pharmacy for a while.
Marva served with many organizations; BFW, March of Dimes, Ashland VFW Women Auxiliary, helping at the Bingo table at the Clark County Fair, and Marva got her Pilot License, yep to fly. Marva played the piano at the Church of God where she was a lifetime member.
Marva enjoyed spending her time, sewing, shopping and going fishing. Her time at the Ashland Health Center Senior Living playing games with the residents or playing the piano for their enjoyment, along with handing out chocolates to the residents there. Marva went to be with her Lord and Savior on March 17, 2020 at the age of 89 at the Ashland Health Center care unit. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ben; her brothers Robert Musgrove, Derald Musgrove; her sister Leota Morar. She leaves as her survivors her son John Ellis, of Ashland; brothers Roger Musgrove, Meade & Don Musgrove Canyon City; many nieces, nephews other relatives, friends & co-workers at the bank.
