Martin David Amster

February 22, 1946 — June 28, 2025

Buffalo, OK

Martin David Amster, lovingly known as Marty, passed away on June 28, 2025, in Buffalo, Oklahoma, at the age of 79. Born on February 22, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of Mildred Katzman and Bernard Amster, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his brother, Alan.

Marty lived a full and varied life, wearing many hats with heart and purpose. He worked many different positions over the years with his last being with the IRS until retirement. He proudly ran his own business—Fire and Ice Glass Studio—where his creative spirit truly came alive. A gifted artist with a creative soul, Marty had an insatiable curiosity and a passion for beauty in all its forms. He was a storyteller, a wanderer, a reader, a lover of music, and a man who was never afraid to explore new paths. From raising rabbits and goats to crafting with glass, Marty’s ventures were always colorful and full of life.

He was, above all, a father and grandfather who loved enigmatically but deeply. He is survived by his children: Melissa Eby (Heath), Zachary Amster (Becca), Sarah Ducas (Daniel), Roxy Weber (Terry), and Shauna Wolnyia (Brian). His grandchildren—Gavin, Echoe, Schuyler, Hayden, Xavier, Maeve, Theo, Freya, and Nina Rose—were the lights of his life. He shared a particularly special bond with his granddaughter Maeve, encouraging her creativity and nurturing her artistic voice.

Marty was a yarn spinner and would happily entertain an audience with his wild tales of his glory days spent roaming the states in search of love. His life was a testament to the journey of seeking—seeking love, meaning, expression, and understanding.

He will be remembered for his wit, his perverse sense of humor, his social commentary and the stories he told. Those who knew him will carry his legacy forward in the songs he loved, the art he inspired, and the adventures he was never afraid to take.

A private memorial will be held by the family.
