Marlyn J. McPhail

It is with heavy yet peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Marlyn Jeanell (Marilyn Jaenell) McPhail, a loving mother, a devoted wife, a proud grandma, a remarkable woman, and a dedicated nurse. A longtime resident of Buffalo, she is survived by her husband of 40+ years, David McPhail; her beloved daughter, Shacoy Parra; her mom, Wynell Radford; her sister that “she never got along with”, Beverly Skinner and her favorite nephew Garret Gowing as well as 6 grandkids and 3 great grandkids. Marlyn’s battle with cancer came to an end on August 5th when she was 67 years old. Born November 1, 1958, in Muleshoe, Texas, Marilyn was the first of two children to Wynell and Gene Radford. Her family moved to the farm in 1969 where she was raised until she graduated from Buffalo High School in 1977. Marlyn earned her LPN License and worked for 33 years at the Nursing Home in Buffalo, Oklahoma.

Marlyn’s easygoing spirit, unwavering support, and boundless love will live on in the hearts of her husband, daughter and her family. She loved her fur babies, Dolly, Harley and Raven, sometimes more than she loved her only human child. She lost them all in April to a house fire. Now she has rejoined them and her best friend, Peggy Stanphil, who passed away in 2023. She was the most supportive and loving Momma, grandma and aunt in all the land. She worked tirelessly for years taking care of others.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Marlyn was known for her caring soul and generous heart. Her kindness and compassion touched the lives of many, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Marlyn’s memory will be forever cherished by family, friends, and colleagues. Her legacy as a mother, nurse, and friend will endure, and her spirit will continue to inspire all of us. In our hearts, she lives on, and we will forever honor the legacy of a remarkable woman who made a lasting impact on the world.

She always wanted to be propped up beside the jukebox with her coke in her hand when she died and since we can’t do that, we are going to spread her ashes at her favorite place, the farm. She did not want any memorial services. She was at peace and ready for her next adventure. She passed in her sleep with no pain with her 2 favorite people by her side. They say people die twice. First physical then the second time when someone says their name the last time so never stop telling your stories of her.
