Jollivet Irene Painter was born June 24, 1924, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Fred G and Myrtle Mae Painter, Jollivet grew up in a home rooted in faith, family, and music-values that shaped her life and the generation that followed.
In her early years Jollivet married Jack Cecil Cotter, their home was blessed with a son Gary Cotter and together they built a loving home grounded in faith and service. Following Jack's passing, she later married James W Wilson, with whom she shared many happy years.
A woman of strong faith, Jollivet led her children's church and singing in the Assembly of God Church in Buffalo, Oklahoma, joyfully playing the piano and teaching the love of God through song. In later years, she attended the First Baptist Church of Buffalo, Oklahoma, where her faith continued to reach others.
Jolly lived in the Buffalo community for the majority of her life. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1941.Jolly retired from ODOT Division 6 headquarter, May of 1986 after 25 years. She loved to travel and meet new people. After retirement she and James enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona.
November of 2018 Jolly moved to Oklahoma City to an independent living community where she could be near her grandchildren. She quickly settled in and enjoyed her new community, meeting many new friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Myrtle Painter, husband Jack Cecil Cotter (May 6, 1988) and James W Wilson (June 19, 2014), beloved son, Gary Lynn Cotter (May 13, 1994) and granddaughter Dusty Lynn (November 20, 1972), three siblings Harry Painter, Ruth Shuman, and Dean Painter.
Jolivet Irene (Painter) Cotter-Wilson at the age of 101 of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, formerly of Buffalo, Oklahoma went to be with her father in heaven on November 5, 2025.
Jolly is survived by her devoted grandchildren Misty Landry and husband Eddie; Brandon Cotter and wife Shannon; great-grandchildren Preston, Avery, Colson, Jenson and Adalee Cotter; Sophia and Brett Landry, Allison Landry-Acosta and husband Jacob. Daughter in law Bonnie Lucas and husband Tom; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jollivet leaves behind a lasting legacy of faith, love, prayer, and an unwavering spirit of Joy that will forever inspire her family and all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held on November 13, 2025 at the First Baptist Church, Buffalo, Oklahoma, she will be laid to rest beside her loved ones at the Willard Cemetery following the service.
