Jesse Dodd

Sep 18, 1943 — Sep 4, 2026

Buffalo, OK

Jesse Elmer Dodd was born in Loami, Illinois at his grandmother's White’s home, on September 18, 1943, to the parents of Earl and Dorothy Dodd. Jesse grew up with four brothers Bill, John, Bob, Shorty and seven sisters Lucille, Earlene, Betty, Carol, Eileen, Nancy and EttaMae. He graduated from Monroe High School in 1962. Shortly after that Jesse served his country in the United States Navy stationed in the Great Lakes in Illinois and Honorable Discharged, August 22 1962. Jesse married Jolene Schnitger and to this union two children were born Gene and Cristina. The family made their home in Shelbina, Missouri. Where Jesse worked on the farm and later in the plant in Shelbina. He later moved to O’Fallon, Missouri with the children where he drove over the road. Jesse opened J&J Auto Body Shop where he worked for over 16 years. Jesse moved to Buffalo, Oklahoma to be closer to his son and family. He loved to garden; he literally tore up the front yard and had everyone in town wondering what he was going to do. Well, he planted a large garden which prospered, and he shared it with everyone. He would spend hours out in that garden hoeing and watering. He also enjoyed the fruits of his labor and put up many canned goods from that garden. Jesse also worked at the Harper County Community Hospital as janitor for many years until he retired. Which was short lived and he later went to truck driving school, drove for Warners and Orion Trucking. Jesse loved to fish and hunt some, but I think one of his favorite things was getting together with his friends and cooking for them. He liked nothing better than cooking for a large crowd and showing off his BBQ skills, he made some mean BBQ chicken. Jesse had a good life and survived many accidents and endured more injuries, but he kept on going, until the good Lord called him home on September 4, 2026. Pop, you will be missed but we find comfort knowing that you are no longer suffering. Jesse is survived by his son Gene and wife Pam Dodd, grandchildren, Amber, AJ, Josh, Chris and Craig, ten Great-Grandchildren, his siblings Betty, Eileen, Carol, a brother Bill; other relatives’ nieces and nephews. Jesse was preceded by his parents, brothers John, Bob and Shorty, his sisters Nancy, Etta Mae, Earlene and Lucille, and his daughter Cristina.
