Evelyn V. Beagley, daughter of the late Kenneth and Ruby (Province) Terrill, was born November 20, 1930, in Alva, Oklahoma and passed away in Buffalo, Oklahoma on March 15, 2021, at the age of 90. Evelyn’s childhood years began in Farry, Oklahoma with her parents and siblings until moving to the family farm northwest of Buffalo in 1945. Evelyn was the second born of seven children and absolutely loved spending time with her sisters and brother. She graduated from Buffalo High School in 1950. Evelyn was united in marriage December 2, 1950, to Alfred Lewis Beagley in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The couple first made their home in the Lookout community and later, moved to Freedom, Oklahoma with their two daughters, Linda and Judy. While living in Freedom, Evelyn enjoyed selling Avon and was even awarded a special diamond pin for her successes as a sales lady. She was employed by Buffalo Public Schools from 1980 to 1991. Evelyn and Alfred welcomed a third daughter, Regina, in the spring of 1963. The couple moved once more in the fall of 1963 to Buffalo, Oklahoma. In 1980 the couple welcomed a nephew, Bryan Mattingly, into their home upon the passing of Evelyn’s sister, Revena. Evelyn called Buffalo home for 58 years. She and Alfred were married a wonderful 52 years and thoroughly enjoyed travelling, camping, garage sales, playing cards, and often had a grandkid in tow to share the fun with. Trips to South Fork, Colorado were among some of Evelyn’s favorite adventures. Affectionately referred to as “Granny Evelyn” or “Granny”, all of her grandchildren loved to visit. Almost nothing was off limits and the candy bowl always full. Evelyn’s generosity was known to all. Her famous red punch was a favorite during the holidays. Buckwheat pancakes, banana cake, monster cookies, and Texas sheet cake were just a few of her recipes enjoyed. Evelyn was especially fond of cardinal birds and the color red. More than anything, Evelyn looked forward to and valued spending time with cherished family and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred, and sister, Revena.
