Darrell Monroe

January 21, 1969 — May 13, 2026

Oklahoma City, OK

Darrell Monroe, 57, passed away peacefully on May 13, 2026, at Integris Baptist Heart Hospital, in Oklahoma City after having a massive heart attack. He was born on January 21, 1969, in Tulsa to Alvin Monroe and Shirley (Walden) Monroe, and will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, and the love he shared with family and friends throughout his life.

Darrell spent his childhood in Foyil and attended Chelsea Public Schools before his family moved to Midwest City during his early teenage years. He attended Monroney Junior High School and later graduated from Carl Albert High School in 1987.

After high school, Darrell entered the workforce as a full-time roofer, where he quickly became known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his craft. In 1995, he fulfilled a dream of owning his own business when he purchased his sheet metal and roofing company, a business he took great pride in building and operating through the years.

In January of 1993, Darrell met the love of his life, Jana Robertson, on the dance floor. What began with a dance quickly turned into a lifetime of love and partnership. On April 23, 1994, the two were married and built a life centered on love, family, and cherished memories. To this union were born two children, Kenzie and Rhett, who were among his greatest joys and proudest accomplishments.

Darrell was a 6'5" man, but those who knew him best would say he was truly a gentle giant with a huge heart for everyone he met. He had a warm, giving spirit and a way of making people feel seen, valued, and cared for. To his children, he was lovingly known as “Disneyland Dad,” always creating fun, laughter, and unforgettable memories that they will cherish forever.

An avid fisherman and hunter, Darrell found peace and happiness in the outdoors and treasured the time spent on the water and in the woods. Whether casting a line, sharing hunting stories, or simply enjoying nature, those moments brought him great joy and created lasting memories with family and friends.

His strength, compassion, and sense of humor touched many lives and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Darrell will be deeply missed by his wife, children, extended family, friends, and all whose lives he influenced. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father Alvin Monroe, mother Shirley (Walden) Monroe Smith, father-in-law Leland Robertson, sister-in-law Lynn Robertson, and mother-in-law Beverly Robertson.

Darrell is survived by his wife Jana Robertson Monroe, children Kenzie Monroe and Rhett Monroe, brothers Terry Monroe & wife Tammy, Ralph Monroe, Bryan Monroe & Kristy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

“Those we love never truly leave us; they live on in the memories we hold close.”
