Carl E. Clark was born at home in Selden, Kansas on January 8, 1934 to Ray and Irene Clark. He grew up in various places throughout Kansas, Colorado and Oklahoma as his father’s work and his mother’s love of adventure would lead them to many different locations. He attended grade school in various places and attended high school in Selman, Oklahoma. Carl married the love of his life Lois Hughes on March 12, 1955. After marriage the two moved to Colby, Kansas where they started their family. A few years later they moved back to Buffalo where they chose to establish their lifelong home. They had two children Clarence and De’ett.

Carl grew up in the United Methodist Church and enjoyed attending church events with his family. He later joined the Baptist Church where he attended for many years, later in life Carl became a member of the First Christian Church where he enjoyed attending church with his children and grandchildren. He had a great love for the Lord and his family.

Carl worked on a cattle ranch in Colby, Kansas and then hauled cattle for a trucking company in Buffalo, Oklahoma. In 1962 Carl started his career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he worked for 30 years before retiring. Carl started his career there as a welder, later becoming the Shop Superintendent and then ending his career as the Division Office Manager. Carl and Lois owned and operated The Cino Theater as well as Clark’s Flowers for many years.

His world revolved around his family, he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl enjoyed many hobbies such as woodworking, coin collecting and playing golf. Carl was very active with the Doby Springs Golf Course where he worked alongside his best friends to help the course get established in the early seventies, he then helped maintain the course during his playing years. Carl also enjoyed family vacations where they traveled to many different locations such as Hawaii, California, Branson, Florida and the Caribbean Islands.

Carl was preceded in death by his loving wife Lois Clark, his parents Ray and Irene Clark, his brothers Alva “Little Buster” and Zim Clark, sister Edna Day, son Clarence Clark and grandson Brian Appleton. Carl went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 11, 2024.

He is survived by his daughter De’ett and husband Bruce Appleton of Buffalo. His grandchildren Natasha and husband Kip Baird of Edmond, Oklahoma and B. J. and wife Nancy Appleton of Wheatland, Wyoming. The Lord blessed him with 6 great grandchildren Riley Appleton, Blaze Appleton, Copper Baird, Cabela Appleton, Dret Baird and Sylas Appleton.
