Bernard Smith

Bernard Wayne Smith was born on May 30, 1933 in Coldwater, Kansas to John C. and Beatrice Mae (Riner) Smith.  Bernard grew up on a ranch and went to country school through the 8th grade.  Bernard quit school to go to work, helping on the ranch; while growing up on the I4 ranch north of Freedom, Oklahoma.  Bernard told his family of setting up a tent and sweeping the dirt down to the hard pan.  They stayed in this while taking care of the cattle.  Bernard thoroughly enjoyed taking care of his cattle and going to auctions to visit and watch the cattle market.  On July 3, 1958 Bernard married Wanda June Hillman.  To this union 3 children were born, Bernadine, Bernie and June.  Bernard was preceded in death by his wife; Wanda, brothers; Johnnie, Loyd, and Bobbie Smith, sister; Jessie Moorman, granddaughter; Daisy Smith, two sisters and 1 brother at infancy.   Bernard went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 17, 2022, at the Minneola Nursing Home in Minneola, Kansas.  Bernard leaves behind Bernadine and husband John Harris of Rosston, Oklahoma, Bernie and wife Dixie Smith of Gate, Oklahoma, June Smith of Gate, Oklahoma.  Grandchildren Jake and Brittney Harris, Sierra and Randy Masters, Trevor and Ashlyn Harris, Levi Smith, Ashley and Jimmy Dixon, Blake and Ashley Smith Melissa and Kirby Wanger, Barbara and Zach Hunter, Great Grandchildren Braya Harris, Zakry, Jaisly and Kyzen Masters, Konner and Kace Harris, Codie and Corie Dixon, Hazel, Logan, Wyatt Smith, Luke and Lane Wanger, Reid and Ridge Hunter, many nieces, nephews & friends.
